On 25 October, the 2007 ENGEL HL Awards were presented within the framework of the K 2007 in Düsseldorf. Companies that use ENGEL injection moulding machines with tie bar-less clamping units and that apply the concept in an especially innovative and economic manner were honoured. Gold, silver and bronze went to Hirtenberger Automotive Safety AG in Hirtenberg (Austria), ZKW Slovakia s.r.o. in Krusovce (Slovakia) and plastic concept GmbH in Neusalza-Spremberg (Germany).

The patented Dolphin Process, which was introduced at the Schwertberg, Austria-based injection moulding machine manufacturer's Spring Symposium 2006 is approaching maturity for serial production. Dolphin was demonstrated to the experts by automotive supplier Johnson Controls at this year’s IAA in Frankfurt, Germany, within the scope of a feasibility study.

Iinjection moulding machine manufacturer ENGEL will be demonstrating newly dimensioned ENGEL speed high-performance machines for injection moulding of plastic packaging at K 2007. One new addition to the product range is the ENGEL speed 500 with a clamping force of 5,000 kN which will be demonstrating the production of a 1 litre container using a 4+4 cavity stack mould. The fastest IML system on the market, a model with a clamping force of 1,800 kN will be producing decorated, round cups with an original product seal.

The fully electric ENGEL e-victory injection moulding machine is GMP-qualified for use in clean rooms. The ma-chine with a clamping force of 500 KN produces micro-fluid test elements, under strictest clean room conditions; these "labs on a chip" (LOC) are sealed in plastic bags in the clean room.

Plastics processors GRAF from Teningen recently commissioned a two platen ENGEL machine with a clamping force of 55,000 kN and three injection units for the production of underground tanks and logistics containers. ENGEL has broken all previous records with this development. The duo 5500 not only supports shot weights of up to 140 kg with its three injection units, but is also very economical with its extremely low energy consumption.
